New York — Paris · since 2024

We partner with the authors and publishers shaping contemporary literature.

Strategy, content, press, festivals, and launch campaigns — for literary fiction, independent presses, and the writers serious about their public life. European sensibility, New York craft.

The book chain,
rebuilt.

The best books are not always the most read. Between manuscript and reader runs a chain — social media, press, booksellers, prescribers, festivals, communities — that few know how to activate with care.

The Writer Salon works with authors, independent publishers, and literary agents who want to give themselves the means. Our method blends editorial culture, marketing craft, and a granular reading of the platforms — BookTok, Bookstagram, longform press, library prescription. We don't promise miracles. We build presences that last.

Our two offices — New York and Paris — are not a footnote. They are the work. We bring American directness to Parisian editorial restraint, and the rigor of the French literary scene to the speed of New York publishing. Few agencies operate at this hyphen. None do it natively.

Six disciplines, one conviction : books deserve careful publics.

01 — Strategy

Social presence

Positioning, editorial line, calendar, content production. Instagram, TikTok, Substack, YouTube — and whatever comes next.

02 — Marketing

Launch campaigns

Media plan, partnerships, literary influence, press activation. From galleys and ARC distribution to a title's second life on backlist.

03 — Press

Publicity

Print, radio, podcasts, television. Coordinated press timelines, angles, embargoes. Domestic and international placement.

04 — Events

Festivals & readings

National Book Festival, Brooklyn Book Festival, BookExpo, Salon du Livre, Frankfurt. Preparation, coordination, on-site direction.

05 — Content

Editorial production

Reels, author videos, book photography, newsletters. A coherent visual direction across a catalog or a career.

06 — Counsel

Strategic advisory

Audience diagnostics, deep partnerships with publishers, training for in-house marketing teams. International expansion advisory.

The historical heart of Francophone publishing. Steps from the houses, the independent bookstores, the Salon du Livre. A live reading of the French critical scene — useful both for European authors and for American writers translated into French.

Authors, publishers, agents — one shared standard.

Authors — Fiction, essay, narrative non-fiction
They understood the book before they tried to sell it. The first time anyone has spoken to me about my online presence with that kind of editorial ear.
M. C. Novelist, fall 2025 list
A team that doesn't mistake marketing for noise. Every decision is made in service of the work — never against it.
T. B. Essayist
I doubled my readership in six months without ever feeling I'd betrayed myself. That sounds simple. It isn't.
L. D. Narrative non-fiction
Publishers & agents — Independent presses, literary agencies
Finally a partner who speaks to our authors without hassling them, and to our team without lecturing us. For us, this has become structural.
Editorial director Independent press, New York
Their reading of the French scene is invaluable. They've brought us methods we hadn't seen coming — and that we've now folded in.
Literary agent New York / Paris
The rigor of a major house, the agility of a studio. Exactly what was missing in this market.
